As this is a phpbb forum there is no reason that the admin couldn't set it up so that both looks (and indeed many others) were available, leaving it up to the user to pick their own favourite look.

On IE7, PAGE -> TEXTSIZE may need to be increased. Mine is on MEDIUM and it looks fine.
