How strange that it takes so long....for heating/hot water faults I call on the day(day after at latest)of the phone call and pumps,t/couples,powerheads etc are all standard part of van stock.

But why do you use the heating in summer?End of May all heating off and not on again till end of October...well that's how it used to be(actually we didn't have heating when I was a lad...that rule applied to winter bedding...none of these fancy multi-togged duvets....just extra blankets) |

In my work I've heard it at least once everyday(more often in winter) for the past 39 years....and people wonder why I'm nuts.  |

It gets worse, until he comes and looks at it properly, he won't know whether the valves are up to isolating the pump or whether he will have to drain the system.
Still, the old pump has done 25 years.

| Well to be honest...a draindown shouldn't take any more than an hour(inc changing parts,refill and airing out system)...this depends on how many radiators are on the system(average is 8...10 not uncommon), or if you have a sealed/pressurised system. |

I saw on the Weather Channel today that the UK is having a rare, early snow causing flight delays, etc. However, the reporter was in front of Buckingham Palace speaking of the huge amounts of snow all over the UK but only flurries could be seen and no snow accumulation. Cars were zipping past on clear roads. So, what's it like in the UK today?

Currently -2c or 28F in Huddersfield, schools closed and elder lad can't get to work, have kept the cat in today (it's his birthday, ah bless, 12 today!)
And guess what, no heating .. again!
Think it is a dodgy thermostat, man coming Thursday pm, at least my gas bill will be cheap this time!

All this on the news about unseasonal snow........it's only been 17 years since we saw snow in November.
Does anyone remember when a report of something happening once every couple of centuries was something to wonder at?? |
