Beach Slang - The Things We Do To Find People Who Feel Like Us
I bought this CD based on reviews...I will say it is critically acclaimed with most reviews maxing out. I think it sounds allot like a band from a few years ago called Japandroids.
High marks for arty energy but overall score 4/10

Here are the Japandroids, I score this 7/10. I really like this.

BTW, I'm thinking of changing my name to Arty Energy, it has a nice ring to it. _________________ Billy, Don't Be A Porter |

@ Buckeye Randy
Last Friday I was picking up a new car - and trading in my car - so had removed all CDs-had time to spare before collecting new car so decided to buy a CD for the drive home
Bought the new Iggy album ( it's ok about a 7/10 after listening a few times ) - also bought best of B.A.D ( a few tracks make this a 8/10 )
So if anyone is considering a new CD - buy B.A.D over the new Iggy CD |

Roll On - The Living End 7/10
The Living End are a punky rockabilly band from Australia but that description does not do them justice. These guys aren't like American rockabilly with greaser or horror themes, they are more like Brian Setzer on steroids.
Meeting them and getting a disc signed seemed like a pretty big deal when it happened.
Check this out.

I mentioned a while back that The Monkees have an album coming out in June. It appears some old tapes are being used including a track written by Harry Nilsson. Mickey Dolenz will be singing a duet with the original guide vocal by Harry. Pretty cool considering they were good friends on LA strip back in the day. _________________ Billy, Don't Be A Porter |

They've been touring....saw them in Hove, last Wednesday (13th) atThe Old Market, smallish venue but big enough not to be claustrophobic. |

Peel session version of The Bob (Medley) by Roxy Music
8/10 It's one of the band's less talked-about tracks, but has some great sections, like the 'too many times beautiful' chorus and Ferry's shouty singing of the verses. It doesn't hang together as well as their other longer tracks, though. _________________ "but we can hear what others can't hear..." |
