That review has whetted the appetite! I hope it's genuine, but I'm sure the album will be amazing either way!

Listened to the Sex Pistols Submission and the intro had a Big Beat feel to it.

If its off a vinyl promo it would be unusual... When it leaks its mostly from multiple sources... So much fake news around now its hard to sort the wheat from the chaff.

While I'm dying for album info, this Gummo's obviously having a laugh. The song titles, although Sparks-like, aren't quite up to Ron's standards. Can't imagine MILF and Get Laid in a Sparks song 2017. Co-write with Peter Hook??? Submission is one of the weaker tracks IMO from a great, great album. Well, we'll soon find out, I guess.

with this "preview" someone writes about a parody of Sparks, or of a remake of the
"Music That You Can Dance To" album. I hope it is either fake
or just a very bad written preview/review ...

Yeah, the song titles, "funk-rock," etc. -- it's a joke, but it's by someone who's an actual fan (as the "Gummo Mael" reference indicates).

@mael22 - not nice calling someone an idiot - it's a fans open forum where people share opinions etc

As for Get Laid - it's on you tube along with other Arista demos

Quite right....couldn't have said it better myself. I think the "play nicely children" rule still applies.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of marketing strategy they employ. With the muscles of BMG and the creativity of R&R I figure it'll be something special. GSASV back in '94 was a lot of fun.

These days it's all electronic isnt it...
But I didnt hear anything about a release date yet, did anyone??? Blondie are also on BMG and there is already a date set (May I think) and preview stuff going round. So I'm thinking, maybe we have to wait till the summer :-(

Gummo Mael, a pseudonym for Paul Morley, who wrote the sleeve notes for "Mael Intuition"... Make of it what you will!

Well, those able to go to the 6music show this Friday will be able to find out for sure if that review is genuine or a spoof from if the song titles prove to be real or not ...

I have to say I read it first as a spoof ... I guess as it's describing the album as we'd all love it to be, it makes us susceptible to gullibility ... ... but I hope it turns out to be genuine, or the new album is as good as described regardless ...

I'm in two minds:
Arguments for spoof
- The detail gets less as it goes on, the last three songs are just titles - typical for a spoof as inventiveness runs out
- Geisha Boy, Geisha Girl sounds like a riff on Retro Boy, Retro Girl to me
- I seem to remember - somewhere??? - Ron said something about the album being sports based - which this obviously isn't
- No preview stuff was released to anyone yet, that I heard, (unless just in the last few days maybe) so it would have had to come from an inside source
Arguments for real:
- The Steve Jones / Sex Pistols thing was mentioned already - somewhere???
- Power chords mixed with Firebird sounds very Ron, and actually rather great
- Who would bother to fake up something like that

Steve

PS only 3 days to wait till we know for sure. Wish I was in Glasgow!
