Time to act?
Why are Sparks not recognised by their peers, fans or the music industry?
Surely if ABBA can be inducted, Sparks should walk it.
How do we ensure our heroes are remembered for posterity?
As far as I can see they have not been honoured by such an Award.
Anyone got ideas how to change this?

SPARKS needs to release more music products for public recognition

I hear what you are saying and I may be comparing apples and pears.
Maybe used the wrong group to do a comparison with i.e. Abba.
Who appear in the Hall of Fame, yet lasted 10 years and only did 8 studio albums.
Surely 40 years still going strong, album in the top 10 this year and 20 studio albums to their credit must count for something!

I have said it before and no doubt I will say it again but the majority of people just don't get Sparks, we have to accept that and be grateful that we are in the minority.

The loss is theirs, not ours.

Having looked at this years nominees, Kate Bush, not everybody gets Kate Bush (particularly Americans), yet she got nominated.
"C'mon now" what's wrong with getting our Sparks at least nominated?
Not everybody believed the world was not flat, they had to be convinced. I believe Sparks are more qualified than some of the current Hall of Famers.
Who would have thought it, a man on the moon, never turn your back on mother earth.

Nothing would please me more than seeing Sparks get the recognition they truly deserve and believe me they are more than worthy of being in any Hall of Fame.

As I have said before there are many people including famous people who "have always loved Sparks" but where are they when they are needed?

Let's just be grateful that we understand and appreciate the two most amazing people in the music industry.

For the record I have never met anyone who doesn't love Kate Bush and her music, just look how quickly her comeback concerts sold out.

That’s it “careless man” has figured it out. It’s our fault Sparks do not get the recognition they deserve. We expect and are happy with the occasional studio album or single every couple of years, whereas what the band should be doing is disappearing into the wilderness for 12 years and staging amazing comebacks. (tongue in cheek) sorted. Personally I couldn’t last 12 months without a blast of Sparks. It’s all Propaganda!!!

Not quite sure how you work that out from what I said but you are entitled to your opinion as am I so we will have to agree to disagree on this one I'm afraid.

Having followed Sparks for over 43 years I am just happy that they can still come up with the goods even if it is every few years.

Hi Careless
“Whippings and Apologies” not having a go or intended criticism, sometimes I talk a lot of “Balls”.
I was trying to drum up the support of thousands of Sparks followers to push for at least Hall of Fame recognition for the band, an, “Almost a Hollywood Ending” you might say. I don’t seem to have generated much enthusiasm for this. “Bummer.”

No problem, no offence taken, at least we are both on the same wavelength and just want some form of recognition for our heroes.
Shame we appear to be on our own........

I remember Ron and Russell telling Steve Jones that Sex Pistols turning down the RRHOF was the right thing to do. They're apparently not interested.

I've thought about this a lot. I like that you are pushing on this. How can I help?

Hi Monte (Reinforcements), thanks for reading the thoughts of a naïve fanatical supporter. We seem to be in the minority, where all others have accepted their fate and given up. Not sure (Unaware) if actually any one has tried to drum up support and push for any accolade for the band, happy to be proved wrong….

The Rock and Roll award may not be the easiest or achievable award, as the process seems very secretive (Pulling Rabbits Out of a Hat). I did note a few bands have launched various petitions online to help with their nominations ie. The current nominee “The Cars” on their
www.nominatethecarstorockrollhalloffame.org website
Whatever they did, they got onto the list of nominees for 2018.

I have sent a couple of emails various orgs i.e. Rollingstone Magazine etc. still waiting on replies, not optimistic though (Probably Nothing))
Other than setting up a petition to forward to the nominating committee I am (Sparks) in the dark. If there is anyone can set up a petition, I and friends would happily sign, but as an ignorant technophobe (Don’t shoot me) I have no idea how to set one up. Do we have any leaders or doers who can?

Only petition site I know of is change.org but that seems mainly for serious stuff like ending caged eggs or saving rain forests

Sounds like the people at change.org have their hands full. If we contact them, they'll probably say, "What the hell is it this time???"

Hi Sparky, change.org has been used in the past to nominate other bands i.e
The Cure
Stevie Nicks
Wings
The Monkees
Doobie Brothers etc.
not sure to what success they had. The Cars obviously succeeded this year, perhaps there's hope yet!!
Could we have a go at wording a petition and put the link on the fans forum? Might get an idea what support is out there, just a thought.

Oh right. I've never started a petition and wouldn't really know how how go about it. Only ever signed a few and that was with some difficulty!

The answer is in the title "fame", Sparks are not globally famous, we like them, many do, and to compare them to Abba is actually quite a rubbish comparison. Abba created a sustainable brand over a number of years. Maybe a logical comparison should be made with bands like Pet Shop Boys.
