I am looking forward to this one, really LOVE Scheherazade. I wonder how they are going to do the violins? Who is doing the female voice? Also love "more then a sex machine"

re: Katherine Hepburn - Ron wrote it; was performed at a few Sparks concerts around the Plagiarism/Balls era, sung by their femal drummer at the time (whose name will come back to me the minute I stop typing, of course - something like Lizzie Hayden, but I know that's all wrong! )

Really nice show tonight! Once streaming settled, very few problems until the end. Russell continues to reach new heights - and new highs.

Very solid, made a lot of the songs come alive better than the album, actually.

No. 1 rule of thumb: Sparks have always been superior live...

What a pristine gig it was tonight, light-years better than the "Live in London" DVD.

Yes, indeed. Lightyears better than the Live in London DVD, that's what I thought during the concert. I dod not know "Katherine Hepburn" yet, so another surprise. Nice to see Tammy back, her hair is as long as my hair and blonde, too. But I would be a lousy drummer.

The ass before the storm?! Oh my, that is a frightening image.
So - great show again. Russell blew the microphone's mind. How to Get Your Ass Kicked was amazing of course - thanks for the words of wisdom, Ron. Yeah - all of the songs were great tonight - what more can I say?
Didn't really expect to hear Katherine Hepburn...I don't want to hack Christie (I really like her version), but I have to admit that it sounded a million times better tonight.
I can't believe this whole thing is going to come to an end soon...

After a few evenings without any major difficulties, there seemed to me to be sound problems galore tonight, and not just Russell's microphones. The guitar disappeared completely for a couple of tracks, and the bass was booming again, particularly on How To Get Your Ass Kicked.

Once Russell had got the wired mic, his vocals sounded fine to me, and I was standing centre-stage about half way back. And Ron's keyboards sounded fine, although he seemed concerned about something after the first track.

Despite all of this, I still enjoyed the gig, and the best tracks were at the start (Balls rocked) and at the end (The Angels was sublime), which weren't affected by the sound gremlins.

Personally I love the sound of this album, and I'd love to hear the album they recorded and then didn't release after this one but before Lil' Beethoven.

By the way, does anyone know what's going on with the air conditioning in the venue? When I arrived (about 15 minutes before Sparks came on) it was like an ice box in there, then the air conditioning was turned off just as things were warming up. On other evenings it's either been on all the time, or not on at all. Very odd...

Don't know, but I was incredibly glad of it last night!

What was the attendance like tonight?

I watched the streaming, but you can never fully tell from that.

Despite the mic problems in Aeroflot - on the streaming I guess it was the afforementioned gremlins that made Russells vocals seem to carry on without him singing/a mic?!?

From the streaming, the show seemed very tight, with a bit of energy added because of the guitars and bass, at least on the more uptempo stuff. Knock Off sounded excellent, as did Katherine Hepburn.

All told, though, Balls is not a favourite album of mine - too obviously drawing upon the Prodigy on 2 or 3 tracks and - worse - overladen with nasty Euro-pop-style synthetic string sounds. The latter seemed present and correct, unfortunately!, as I think there are some OK songs.

It served as a reminder for me of how good Sparks became from Lil'B onwards.
