Does anyone know the story that some guy from a band told about Ron eating a sandwich? Apparently, this guy (from some band or other that I've no intrest in, like The Smashing Pumpkins) was playing at a festival where Sparks were performing too and he told the story that he saw Ron backstage eating a sandwich using a knife and fork! Now why this might strike some as decidedly eccentric behaviour it would actually lessen Ron's chance of having any of his lunch get trapped in his whiskers.

i completely understand ron.

i do the same, even though i dont have a moustach, and i eat with fork and knife, foods that you are not supposed to eat like this.

because i dont wont to get dirty on my fingers and face, and destroy my lipstic

I don't know if you've seen the I Predict video but, well, he does have a touch of lippy on in that... along with fishnet stockings of course.

His Fu Manchu man is indeed real fine... my god what a hottie! This should definitely be Ron's next look.

You people obviously don't know a thing, he was using the fork because he always wanted to avoid gaining weight. Eating small meals, cutting food into small pieces and chewing well can help any person to stay slim and trim.
For Russell, the preferred method to stay slim seems to be leaving the food half-eaten on the table (see Morrissey, "Memories", tome II)

@ Lady: That's great!! What about Dali?

Being the lithe faun-like creature I am, I know nothing of dieting techniques... but I shall definitely use a knife and fork when tucking into my next box of chocolates

Ron as Dali sounds interesting!... I must get Ronald Colman out of the way first... Jesus, that sounded like I was planning a hit on the guy... pretty difficult seeing as how he's been dead for the last 50 years or so.

Fauns are amazing exotic creatures of the myth, so enjoy your chocolate - or if it has some mayonnaise filling, give it to me :)
Dieting techniques - I only was kinda bored with the rhetoric about Ron being too skinny. I found enough funny though a comment on Youtube that said "this Ron Mael needs a good meal inside of him, or else the winter winds would take him" or something like this...

Dali popped into my mind when I saw this:

That Daliesque pic at first glance looks like he has just a toothbrush moustache but it looks as if he also has a very thin Clarke Gable moustache just along the top of his lip! 2 for 1

It was indeed so; the toothbrush moustache was added especially for the "Kimono My House" gig.

if we are already speaking about the brothers weight...
i think they both gained some kiloes over the years.

or maybe they just learned to dress in a more flattering clothes?...

any way, they both look better today,
especially ron, who doesnt look anymore anorectic, like he looked in the early days.

and about russell, i wonder how does he keep his body in such a good shape??? usually people at his age have at least a small tummy or something like this. but he has nothing!

about ron i dont wonder, because as i said, he was always very thin.

Re Russell's good shape... It's no doubt in part due to the exercise of live performance... and other sorts of exercise... see below for except from an interview with him...

"PM: You have thrived in a cult status. Tell me a little bit about your fans and the band's relationship to them.

RM: Sparks has great fans. Few bands have 20 albums, and few bands have fans who have stuck with them that long while still attracting new fans. As far as our relationship to them, we do try to sleep with as many of them as possible."

lady

i guess the answer is good genetics.

because there are bands who perform more often then the sparks, and in a more phisical show, but they are not slim as the sparks.

and about sleeping with the fans...i have this strange feeling that he is just talking... :)
their sex/ love life is so mysterious, that it makes you think they dont do it...

or maybe they are just married to each other, as this picture suggest:
