I've heard of at least one fairground setting up "drive-in" live concerts, in the manner of a drive-in movie theater (we still had a few of those around, and they've gone from barely staying in business to being in great demand, even while showing classic older films for lack of new ones.) They're allowing people to set up lawn chairs immediately next to their vehicles so you don't have to watch from inside, but ...it's better than no shows at all, I suppose, but it doesn't sound like much.

There's "gigs" like that here too, mostly at race courses and major shopping centre car parks. You get a square to park in and can sit outside the car in your square.
E.g....

Utilita Live from the Drive-In is a series of live drive-in concerts across 12 specially converted outdoor venues from Filton Airport in Bristol to The Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh. Acts will be performing to 300 cars a night, so wind down the windows and enjoy the tunes. Highlights include:

Tony Hadley (23 July-7 August)
Bjorn Again (23 July-23 August)
The Streets (28 July-August 12)
Sigala (30 July-August 16)
Beverley Knight (4-20 August)
Embrace (6-27 August)
Lightning Seeds (4-19 August)
Ash (21 August-31 August)
Hue and Cry (22 August)
SIX the musical (4 August-12 September)
Sheku Kanneh Mason and Isata (5-8 August)
Boyzlife (5-20 August)
Tom Grennan (5-22 August)
Dizzee Rascal (11-29 August)
Kaiser Chiefs (13&14 August)
Gary Numan (20 August-September 5)
KT Tunstall (1-14 September)
The Nightflix Drive-in festival in Newark has lined up live music performances throughout August featuring tribute acts to Madness, Abba and Foo Fighters.

Talk on Facebook (so it could be rubbish) that the tour is being postponed until June 2021

I can think we can safely say that October's tour won't be happening even if it's not been publicly announced as yet. Of course it's a real shame but who could ever have predicted such a global thing going on as we have now? No way is it finished yet either so I guess all we can hope for is postponed dates for next year & keep our fingers crossed. I think the sooner it is officially announced the better so that everyone will know what the exact state of play is.
In the meantime though there are other ways artists have been using to get their music out here & to also raise a few funds. This evening I have just thoroughly enjoyed a 3rd live studio gig by Marc Almond playing in the Dean Street studios in Soho London.
During the performance, which was shown live worldwide on Youtube, you could donate as much as you wanted to in order to keep them going while lockdown prevents artists from getting back out on the road.

It's a very different experience but at least it's connecting the audience with the artist as much as you can at a live gig. No applause is strange but the savings on bar bills & ticket prices is worth sending a donation to the band for their efforts. I saw Jean-Michel Jarre do a live stream a few weeks ago on Youtube as well which was equally as much fun.
If Sparks could organize something like that it would keep fans world wide happy for the time being. It would also be there forever after for anyone to view as well. I think it would be great if they could get that sorted before any documentary or film release happening. I'm sure they would see a real big helping hand given to their bank balances while making everyone happy all over mother earth.

Interesting stuff Kermit. Was this using the DICE app? I'm considering watching a virtual gig next month but the app reviews aren't great and I'm wondering if it's worth it.

Manchester gig has been rescheduled to 20 May 2021.
Email just arrived from ticket master.

Shame the gigs had to be postponed, but it's best not to take the risk of holding them just yet. And at least we get an extra UK date! Wonder why it's in Bexhill?

If you are subscribed to a fan site you automatically get any news first. With Marc Almond it was just a link from an email with all the information to his site. Then there was Youtube link to the live gig. Watching it live was great & it's there forever.
Now that the rescheduled tour dates have been announced I think it can be a great idea in the meantime until the actual tour next year. We don't know if or what will be happening next year yet anyway, so even if it's half a live gig on Youtube it must be doable.

Thanks Kermit. It's the Jack Savoretti live from Portofino gig I'm thinking of. Via this app not YouTube.

I'm sure you will enjoy it Rick. I must confess I don't know who he is so I must look him up.
