Not a musician, but Al Jaffee brought joy and laughter to MAD Magazine readers for 65 years(!) up to age 99 and enjoying a few years of retirement... 102 was a good long run.

Study hall would have been a waste of time without Mad Magazine.

Study Hall isn't a UK thing 😆
However as a boy our local library used to have copies of MAD...which was handy as it meant you didn't have to spend your pocket money to read it, only downside was you couldn't do the fold down page.

Libraries in my part of the US seem to be slowly phasing out physical magazines in general. I can borrow e-copies of MAD (and many other magazines they didn't bother with in paper format), but sadly have to 'solve' Fold-Ins by looking only - can't bend, let alone fold my screen.

Nice one, love the "Sparks song tribute" idea.
Maybe we should do this each time, they'll definitely have enough songs to choose from!

I didn't mean to trivialise Mary Quant's death in any way but by making notification of people's deaths into a game by finding a suitable Sparks song for each one would do just that...a tasteless suggestion!!!!

I didn't see it as a disrespectful game or anything cold-hearted at all, just as a way to celebrate someone's life by choosing a song from one of our favourite bands. I saw it mostly as a thoughtful and nice gesture, because I'd love my loved ones to do the same for me when I leave this world :)

You're right, some may not see it that way...
