A friend just called me to say that John Gosling has passed away. Gosling (also known as The Baptist) was the keyboardist for the Kinks for a number of years, including for the song Celluloid Heroes. He was only 75. Sad.

Rest in peace, Robbie Robertson, guitarist and songwriter for The Band, and Bob Dylan collaborator. He died at the age of 80 today. He was an idol of mine when I was a teen. This is a bad week for me and my childhood gods.

Remembering all of the joy and comfort "Son of a Sailor" brought me growing up. Oh, and the giant margarita blender sculpture I got to to witness at Myrtle Beach in one of his dining franchises.

First, Jimmy Buffet fans referred to as 'Parrotheads' take a back seat to nobody when compared to other fans in the world of rock. While followers of many bands pride themselves on being cerebral, tough, political or stoned; Parrotheads just have fun in silly shirts. I hope this rock n roll tradition continues.
