Sounds great, can't wait to see it available online. Usually with Arte, shows are available on their website around 1 week before being aired on TV, so we may get a chance to watch it in a few days.
Thanks for sharing Peter! |

I'm hoping that we will be able to see this in the States. I will be mildly shattered if we can't. _________________ better drop the requirement that everything be great |

I know! But still think could be linked, especially considering it’s close to recent announcements . Anyway I’m sure sometime in February we will have it |

wow !
maybe this is their best show on TV ever!!!
superb version of Angst In My Pants
and the best version of "When I`m With You" they ever
did ... with Catherine Ringer
Still not their best song of course, but this one has
a great sound and the band adds dynamics ...
many songs from their last tour and they do have
the best backup band ever.. |

I've just watched it and it was really a great performance. Really worth watching it if you get the chance (and definitely worth getting a VPN just for that if you live outside the EU).
Their version of "Under the table with her" was so beautiful it literally got me in tears! |

I've already watched it twice. Wonderfully filmed, excellent sound, Russell in FABULOUS voice. I agree that When I'm With You (a meh song for me) was very good with Catherine Ringer. I thought it was great that they included Stravinsky's Only Hit but disappointed and surprised that they didn't do Edith Piaf. Or maybe they did and cut it because it wasn't quite right.
To me, the most pressing question is this: what's with the string beans? _________________ better drop the requirement that everything be great |

I agree Russell's voice was in an especially great shape! Gave me goosebumps at times, even.

To make the place look a bit more homely I suppose. Or maybe there's a hidden message there we still have to decipher |

I thought on the last tour Russell's voice was in general a lot stronger than on the Hippo tour.
I thought Catherine Ringer was absolutely wonderful and really added a lot to the two tracks she was in. She's such a great personality as well as singer. I'd love to see her do a lot more with Sparks. I'll be at the Albert Hall and am hoping she'll do a guest appearance...
I really like the song WIWY btw!
(I noticed in the intro they said Sparks was founded as a glam band in 1972, whereas it was never a glam band - just happened to coincide with the glam era - and was founded in 68-69) |

I find myself quite alone in this, but I'm generally underwhelmed with 1980s Sparks. I think there are some great songs on Whomp and Angst, but I find their 70s, 90s, 2000-now work much stronger.
Just me. Carry on. _________________ better drop the requirement that everything be great |

Great spot, Peter - hugely enjoyable. Top notch production values. I'd have preferred the music and the behind the scenes chat to have been separated, but that's a minor grumble. I do like the way Arte put the song titles in the scrollbar (or whatever it's called!) at the bottom of the screen.
I've also checked out the Franz Ferdinand & Wet Leg concerts, so quite some time on that site today ... |
