Posted: Mon Feb 20, 2023 3:55 am Post subject: Your Top 10 Sparks songs poll before the Albert Hall gigs. |
|
|
OK, in the lead up to the Albert Hall concerts in London in May, I thought it might be fun for us Forum users to nominate their 10 best favourite Sparks songs.
From 1 to 10 your list of your favourite Sparks songs. There are plenty to choose from, as we all know, & it will be very difficult deciding your hit list. Think really carefully before you enter your top 10 because once you've done it you can't change it. An absolute NO to anyone who thinks it might be funny to add also rans or make their own top 20 or top 50 as well. Anyone who does that will have their votes nulled & void! I know it sounds strict but I also know what some of you Sparks fans out there are like sometimes.
The voting starts from now until the end of April Sunday 30th a month before the concerts so you have loads of time to think before you post. It would be great to have an absolute winner that we could present to Sparks management as to which track the Sparks fans on the Forum think is their all time favourite. Who knows what might be the eventual winner but I think it will be really quite interesting to see as this Forum is global. If Ron & Russell are watching this thread they might even include the winner on the set list, who knows?
So best behaviour please everyone & enter or don't enter, as I said, it's just for fun.
I shall start with my personal top 10.....
1 - In The Future
2 - Dick Around
3 - Bon Voyage
4 - Fletcher Honorama
5 - Music That You Can Dance To
6 - Equator
7 - My Baby's Taking Me Home
8 - When I Kiss You I Hear Charlie Parker Playing
9 - When Do I Get To Sing My Way?
10- Tryouts For The Human Race
Boy, that was so difficult & I changed my mind many times myself but I can't change it. Happy scratching heads everyone & I'll announce the winner at the beginning of April. I'm going to the Tuesday night gig & I hope to see some old friends too at the Albert Hall, not the Carnegie Hall...they'll have had enough practice by then man! _________________ The fan formally known as kermit

Just to clarify....your no 1 song will get 10 points, no 2 song 9 points & so on.....sorry, I should have made that clearer. You don't have to be actually going to the Albert Hall gigs either. This is for all Forum fans. _________________ The fan formally known as kermit

I recall you doing something similar before, with the same marking system...I am ok with my list as it stands ( nobody else will vote for He's Home 😭) and I have my suspicion of which one will top the poll...going by a poll some years back 😜 |

As I have clarified before, songs must be entered in order of preference....your no 1 song will get 10 points, no 2 song 9 points & so on....
So your votes have been entered with that in mind. _________________ The fan formally known as kermit

I'll have a ponder on my list, but I won't be putting Equator in it. Russell is a magician , but he's not going to be singing that 5 times a week over 2 months. |

Great thread ... I shall also be needing to ponder before committing, but I think Equator will also likely loom large in my list! |

Wow, we need to have a drink together. So many of these would be on my top 10. Or my Top 20. I'm still thinking on it, though. _________________ better drop the requirement that everything be great |

Would be interesting to compare our respective top 10's once you post yours, I'm curious to see which ones you'll pick.
I'm fully aware my choices may not be the most popular, but all of these songs do have a special place in my heart though.
Glad I'm not alone! |

I expect the setlist is anyway already decided and being rehearsed, but if I had my dream and Catherine Ringer would guest, here are some songs I think would be great as duets with her
Of course When Im with you and Singing in the Shower
More than a sex machine (ideally with proper brass behind it, if it had been produced by someone like Trevor Horn it could have been a big hit)
Thats what I call paradise
Dick around, with CR doing the "she" bits
Profile
Looks arent everything
I wish you were fun
We love each other so much
Lucky me lucky you

Amateur Hour
I Predict (ideally with Ron role playing the vid 😀)
Life with the Macbeths
Forever Young
Angst in my Pants
Under the Table with Her
When Do I Get to Sing 'My Way'
All That
Good Morning
Suburban Homeboy
I've never liked Dick Around live, always taken at too much of a lick for my liking, but what do I know! _________________ www.britbitsandclips.com

I'm sorry Peter E but your list includes tracks not even released at the time of posting which isn't really within the spirit of this poll so your entry is null and void. _________________ The fan formally known as kermit
