For the benefit of all the collectors, completists and genuinely curious I stumbled across this bizarre collection of recordings the other day.

IMHO Certainly worth a listen…

I picked up a copy of the Hell Collection only a few months after first hearing of the band. This was pre-internet and I didn't know much about Sparks' history then, so I didn't know the context of any of the tracks. This made it quite a confusing listen, to start off with anyway. Favourite tracks: Nissan commercial and the demo of Singing In The Shower.

I bought the Heaven & Hell collection when they came out in '93. My favourite is 'The Japanese have come & they bought my number one' from the Hell Collection. What a title & a real catchy tune.

The Nissan jingle is amazing.

The Heaven and Hell collection can be had for a semi-reasonable price on Discogs. I got mine last year for ~$40.
