What I get on American Amazon Prime is some autotuned thing that sounds about as far away from Sparks as My Heart Will Go On.

Nice song. A bit repetitive, or just a bit too long maybe, I don't know.
Makes me want to watch the movie nevertheless.

The very first notes made me think of Computer Girl.

I liked the sections of the song with vocals, which were very dreamy and relaxing to listen to. The bits of the song without vocals didn't float my boat. Interesting, stuff, though. And the film sounds worth a watch.

from @sparksofficial on Twitter this morning:

The new collaborative end credit song “Don’t Go Away” by @maxrichtermusic
& Sparks from the film ‘Spaceman’ is out now on all streaming platforms!

Directed by @johanrenck
and starring Adam Sandler, Carey Mulligan & Paul Dano, ‘Spaceman’ is released March 1st on Netflix.

I bought it from Amazon music. I think I'll go to see the movie before it goes to Netflix next week.

It's an odd little film, possibly a bit slow given today's tastes for flash bang action movies.
I haven't read the book so I'm only going on my personal take after watching the film.
It is, to me, a kind of introspective allegory about loneliness brought on by selfishness and how this can only be resolved by self-realisation. Whether the "alien" ( almost a Jiminy Cricket type character) is real or a figment of the imagination is never clear and voiced very much like Hal from 2001 A Space Odyssey.
I watched from the view that it was real. It's a clever film and Adam Sandler is on top form. I enjoyed it.
The trouble with Netflix is the full end credits don't play as
the next recommended viewing delight is advertised. So you get 20 seconds of the song. Anyone watching to hear it might be disappointed, so stream it elsewhere or buy a dvd. I think Alan Partridge Alpha Papa had the best Sparks end credit music, even if it was interspersed with a rap song.😜
Also in Spaceman there is a (very) tenuous link to Annette and I mean tenuous.

Thank you so much Alex for that, it's really appreciated! I love the Alpha Papa reference, l cound not agree with you more about the use of Sparks at the end
As for Spaceman, l will definitely get the DVD.... one memorable review compared it to Solaris but much slower.... 😂
I bought the book last week but haven't started it yet!

All that aside, Max Richters people contacting Sparks.... I'm glowing with pride, this recognition should have happened years ago, but then we all know that!
P S. It's lovely to be on this Forum, l'm not a "joiner" usually but sometimes being a Sparks fan is lonely and this is lovely!!!

When you've read the book you should review it....there is a book review topic in the Stuff and Nonsense column. I'd be interested in the book version

I went to see Spaceman in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Wednesday afternoon. There was only one other person in the theater.

Alex wrote,"Whether the 'alien' ( almost a Jiminy Cricket type character) is real or a figment of the imagination is never clear and voiced very much like Hal from 2001 A Space Odyssey." I experienced the same thing, and decided that it didn't matter whether the tarantula-like being was real. The film, to me, is about facing your naked self after about 6 months of being utterly alone. Hanuš (alien) lends pathos and the very few moments of levity in the movie. It was wonderful, as the credits started to roll, to hear Don't Go Away with fabulous, dreamy sound, knowing that Netflix was not there to cut it off.

I'm not a sci-fi fan, but I liked the movie (didn't love it). It was really an exploration of the inner Jakub (astronaut). There were no space battles, lasers, crashing asteroids, etc. Yes, Adam Sandler was very good - he doesn't get enough credit for his serious roles.

I saw it yesterday. That was not a masterpiece, but certainly a very beautiful movie. It is slow and poetic, full of different emotions... just like the song.

I watched the film on Netflix a couple of nights ago. You can hear the whole Sparks track if you click on the watch credits at the end of the movie. It's about 7 minutes long, fairly repetitive with appropriate lyrics concerning the film. There are two instrumental parts that sound like the spaceship has been unplugged & is just space noise before going back to the ballad & verses. It's always great to have a new track but I'm gonna need a few more listenings to get into it.
The film itself has been absolutely slated but I really did enjoy it. It's not your typical science fiction space movie. It's off the wall & quite slow with a furry alien gigantic spider who hitchhikes itself into the ship. Kinda unbelievable at first but you warm to the spider like we did to ET years ago.
I'm surprised the guys agreed to do it anyway considering they think 'There's no such things as aliens'.......I think there are though, somewhere out there.

Yes, the reviews of the film are almost unanimously bad but l think we have to just decide whether or not we like a film regardless of the critics...... If we were guided by critics opinions over the years, none of us would be on this Forum and still eagerly buying Sparks music...(but then we know better.. 😂)

I'm about half way through the book, which so far is wonderful but l probably will watch the film if it comes out on DVD.......though l really don't like spiders........

I really, really enjoyed the movie ... proper, uncompromising art-house stuff! The film has had some positive critic reviews too, but I think it will seriously piss off any of the 'general public' that stumble on it by accident.
