Knickers - Bored

4/5

Definitely influenced by the CCTV wave of bands from the upper Midwest. Let's the distortion take care of simple guitar riffs. Very competent drummer. Dual vocals in a not annoying way. Favorite track is Bored In The Supermarket. I could visualize anyone from a young punk to a retiree from the USSR listening to it. Lyrics contain subject matter of living frugally in a post-industrial world.

"Post" by Björk
7/10

I remember this was a good surprise when it first came out, this LP is full of very unexpected things (even to Björk fans), but always in a good way. I haven't listened to it for a long while, but it still doesn't sound "old" at all.

Altar of Eden - Chimeras

3/5

Favorite track 'Sacrilege.' Was doing a double time charleston in the kitchento it. Punchy fun drums. Genuinely seems like a revival of Goth sentiments as well as sound. Seems like the band was genuinely not enjoying themselves. Thoroughly unintelligible lyrics.

MSPAINT - s/t

11/10

Band from Hattiesburg, MS. Favorite track is "Post-American" and "Confidence (Consciousness)" short listen. Kind of like Korn had a baby with the B-52s
Dee Dee did an incredible job managing to sing (much like why I love Russell's voice) multiple words at once. Like, uh vocalized homonyms.

I'm generally against current artists playing with recordings of deceased artists.

However....the recent release of Johnny Thunders and The Courettes doing "You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory" seems to defy the odds and is really listenable.

For those that don't know, The Courettes are a band that sound like a Phil Spector produced girl group from the '60's that got their inspiration from the New York Dolls in some sort of time vortex.

This collaboration works because the finished product is just a hop, skip and a jump from what Johnny did off and on with Patti Palladin from 1978 through 1988.

Freefall - Funny Situations.

It's pedestrian cod reggae, and I'll give it 7/10. The trumpet player for the band Chris Dodemont ended up becoming the music director in my high school in 1982, and he's still there to this day.

Shakin'Stevens...All You Need Is Greed.
A surprisingly rather good track, well worth a listen.

"Can't outrun the truth" by Pete Townshend: 4/10

I must say that I'm a bit disappointed by Pete's latest single, but I also know he didn't write this one so I still have hope for his next upcoming solo album...
