"Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd : 8.5/10

All the ingredients are there to make a great rock song. And a good breakup song as well, the lyrics are cool.

I seem to remember a performance of this song ...may have been OGWT....and Fee Waybill performed it in nothing but obscenely revealing Speedo style swimming trunks...how he got away with having half of his tadger exposed on UK TV. is a mystery UK TV censors were usually apoplectic about as much as a nipple at the time.

I've seen The Tubes three times ('79, '02,'18). The band will be doing a mini American tour in the coming months and I'll be trying to score tix in the coming days for the show near me. They are excellent live and still feature three original members. Fee Waybill as frontman and ring leader, the amazing Prairie Prince on drums and criminally underrated Roger Steen on guitar.

Unfortunately, people wanting to buy a CD that serves as overview of the band will be disappointed. Their catalogue is split between A&M and Capitol and I've not seen a disc containing both...though I have not looked in quite some time.

Highly recommended if you're even a little curious.

Now and then - The Beatles 8/10

Beautiful last song for such a legendary band.
I found it really moving, and I'm glad we had the technology to bring it back to life.

I read an article earlier today about this release.

"The last Beatles song featuring the voice of late member John Lennon and developed using artificial intelligence.

The song also features parts recorded by surviving members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr as well as the late George Harrison.

"That ultimately led us to develop a technology which allows us to take any soundtrack and split all the different components into separate tracks based on machine learning", Jackson says in the video".

Regardless the quality of the song, I don't like the road we're going down.
