Conclusion:

Both girls and boys are devoted to Sparks,
apart from Peter R., who's devoted to corina. Am I right?

ROTFLOL

You're so right

Now would it come as some sort of shock if Corina was Peter R's alterego?

lets ask peter, but where is he? i think you scared him again :)

about the poll: it looks like the boys are more devoted to the sparks...in contrary to what i said.

anyway, this poll is not very scientific... :) we cant really check this devotion,
and of course everybody will want to say about themselves that they are more devoted than others.

i just did the poll for the sake of discussion.

I think the polls comes out this way because there might be more boys around these parts than girls. Devotion yes how do you measure that: hours spend listening to the music, concert attendence, money spend on merchendise, minutes spend on this forum...or the love for your fellow forum mates?

exactly,
very hard to measure.
take me for example,
i write here alot about the sparks, but i never saw sparks live...
so who is more devoted? corina? or somebody who doesnt write here anything, but goes to all their shows?

but even if you define exact parameters to check devotion levels, this poll will still not be scientific, because you have to trust the voters to tell the truth. you cant check them with your own eyes.

I agree, it depends what you mean with devotion.
(D-D-D-Devotion's all I need... )

I was thinking of the music in this particular case, not love for Ron and Russ.

And I do my bit to prove that girls can be just as interested in Sparks' music as the boys, we just happen to be so lucky and get some eye-candy as well.

This is where the edges blur...posters have came on this site and claimed all sorts of absurdities to prove they are a bigger fan than they feel adequately equipped to have been..so they have progressively exaggerated the earliest date of/the number of...shows they have seen etc etc..if someone thinks that quantity over quality is an essence of being a "more devoted than another" fan of a group...perhaps McFly is more to their mentality.
Going to shows...posting on the message boards...stalking the group....none of these are indicators of appreciation...
....more signs of insanity than devotion.

So travelling from Brum to the Isle of Skye to see the band perform (only Sparks - we weren't intersted in any of the other performances) is a sign of madness?? Well, I suppose I always knew I was a mad cow!! but it was well worth the midgie bites and lack of sleep

i have an excuse for not seeing their shows.

they never come to my country ! :)

so i have to fly to far away countries to see them...

alot of money, and arrangements...

too complicated.

but probably if i was more devoted, i would have make this effort.

meanwhile i am showing my devotion by listening only to them
at work, at home, at play :)

Yes Corina but if you could look into the eyes of Peter you might see a rise in his ...aaah... devotion

That's very interesting. Why exactly would someone do this?? Is that shameful to be a newbie? Or is there a feeling that one's opinion is irrelevant unless he or she has attended a certain number of gigs or has listened to Sparks since before learning to speak?

this behaviour is ridiculous,
i think that the reason behind it, is the natural wish that we have, to be better than others in some field,
and the sparks music can be one of this fields where you can show your superiority...

i dont think its a shame to be a newbie,

obviously everybody has to start somewhere, nobody is born already an old fan :)

i am a new fan, and i am proud of it !

i even think that sometimes the new fans can be more devoted than the old ones, because they are so excited with their new discovery of good music.
here is an idea for a new poll:
who is more devoted? the new, or the old fans?

again a non scientific poll....

It'd be unfair to compare like this the new and old fans. Probably the new ones are more busy to tell the world about their fresh discovery, to reassure themselves that they're right (and that they're not alone - that's what the forum is for) and to grow as quickly as possible their record collection. But it doesn't prove that they are more devoted, whatever this means (and to sponsor a show, to travel the world to see 21x21 or to issue a Sparks tribute album is surely devotion).
