Alright this one is a tight one but ever since i have the Propaganda 21st edition with the bonus tracks i am concerned with this question ..which track is better, Alabamy Right or Marry Me?
i just can not decide
what do you think?

i think the chorus and the "da ram da dam dadadadam" part of marry me is sheer brilliance but the piano line of alabamy right is so great too

Alabamy Right for me!! Anyone heard the Instrumental of it on You Tube its Great!! When I bought it on 7inch Vinyl the time it was released I was for ever trying to decipher the Lyrics... was a relief to get the lyric Sheet off the Fan Club a few months Later to clear things up...

Does Russell really sing Luckys Miramar Motel as well..!! on "Marry Me"

Very close, so I like both very much....but chose Alabamy right, it's just a bit more operatic. But those lyrics...I saw them on the site and just could not believe Russell sings those loooong sentences in such a short time! Really impossible, but he does it! Life it is a bit better audible then on the CD. Wonderful song!!

Alabamy Right is easily in my top five favourites of all time, so there's your answer.

Exactly... and the song is completely crazy, with that impossible melody rising and rising and making circles in your head - and then it's five o'clock and the doors are closing with the piano coda

Hmmm...

I went for Marry Me, because I love the chorus so much, but I feel bad saying it's better than Alabamy Right

I think both are far better than the Kimono b-sides.

Alabamy Right!! The ragtime piano work seems to ideally suit the 1920s image of Chaplinesque Ron along with Russell consistently displaying all the style of the Great Gatsby.

It also must be the only Sparks track ever where you can suss that the tune came before the words. Amazingly, all Sparks songs are composed first with the lyrics being added later.

I love the eerie way Russell seems to dreamily loose himself in his effortless but fantastic falsetto harmonies, like a pirouetting angel becoming tangled in net curtains.

I bet a pianist could play that tune anywhere in the world, and the people around would proclaim they knew it.

I love both songs but Alabamy has the edge, yes - because of that wonderful piano line.

I still have no idea what Alabamy Right is about, I checked the lyrics but still, no idea. Who cares, it is a brilliant piece of musical machine gunning, scattering musical bullets all over the place. Even as a lifetime Sparks fan, I never could work out what Russ was singing on any of the B sides. Like our very own Da Vinci code. Barbecutie? Fantastic melody, something about a lawn, barbecues, cannibals? Lost and Found, I am told, is about a guy finding a wallet....the only bit I could ever make out was the title and `too bad too bad too bad too bad`! Who cares, it is awesome.
