I still have my extra two in the Left Section row A seat 25 and same section row B seat 27 for $40.00 each (Face value) if you are interested and can't get better seats.

Even if i'm not that keen to visit the USof A, I so wanna go to this gig. Still agonizingly waiting for approvale from my head of department for my Mexican trip in february.

Meanwhile, I'm secretly hoping there will be a Las Vegas gig announced, for a date in february. Now there i can take me gall to and she won't complaint, that's my department :-)

I bought my four tickets through the UCLA Web site and was amazed that I didn't have to pay additional fees. Ticketmaster charges a $6-per-ticket "convenience charge" and $3-per-ticket "building charge" -- for four tickets, those fees would add up to nearly the cost of an additional ticket!!Also, on the UCLA site, you can choose your seats from a few options.

Now I just need to get plane tickets and come up with a wonderful gift for my husband, whom I'm deserting on Valentine's Day to attend the concert of my dreams!!!

My extra tickets are now sold.

That's what I really liked. Although I had both sites open and going for seats the UCLA site had the better seats and a several choices. AND the fact there was no extra fees was very nice!

I can't believe it's really happening!

I don't really know the Westwood area all that well. Any recommendations for decent walking distance hotels? Where are the out-of-towners staying?

(There's a list of hotels on the UCLA Live page but I noticed that some are pretty far from campus.)

Let's see -- I went to New York City in 2003 to see Sparks in Central Park. And I was in London for the first five Sparks Spectacular shows this year...and my ex-wife (go figure!) convinced me to come out to L.A. for this gig.

There are plenty of hotels around L.A. I'm considering staying at the Orchid Suites in Hollywood. It's where I used to stay for the International Pop Overthrow festivals. If anyone who's coming in from afar is looking at a week long stay, the rooms in the Orchid Suites have kitchenettes and you're in walking distance of Grauman's Chinese, the Kodak Theatre (where they do the Oscars), the Egyptian Theatre and plenty of Scientology Centers.

You're also not too far from Amoeba Records and the original Roscoe's Chicken And Waffles!

Here are some spots well within walking distance... but be warned, Westwood is quite pricey!

http://www.starwoodhotels.com/whotels/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=97518

http://www.hilgardhouse.com/

http://royalpalacewestwood.com/Map.aspx

http://www.claremonthotel.net/index.html

Right on campus - not sure what the criteria is but it may be worth a look: http://map.ais.ucla.edu/portal/site/UCLA/menuitem.3f8e7342ad4ca217b66d4ab4f848344a/?vgnextoid=fd5af9f9bd19ff00VgnVCM1000008f8443a4RCRD

A little farther away but probably a 20 minute walk: http://www.hotelpalomar-lawestwood.com/westwood-hotel-directions/index.html

Super fancy and about 1.5 miles away: http://www.hotelbelair.com/see_hotel_belair/our_location/

Cheaper, and about a 15 minute trip by bus - barring bad traffic - (the Big Blue Bus #1 will drop you off at the campus): http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/1/en/hotel/LAXWL/transportation

From what I've seen this one looks quite nice, is in a good area, and the prices are very reasonable - a 50 minute walk or a 10 minute (depending on traffic) bus ride (Big Blue Bus #2) to UCLA: http://www.wilshiremotel.com/index2_eng.html

If I think of any others I'll post them...

Thank you very much Brian for all the info!

I'm be flying over to LA for the first time to see this gig (in spite of the outrageous fuel surcharge that costs me more than the round-trip airfare ).
Any input on getting around, sleeping & eating is highly appreciated.

And Brian, thank you for the hotel info. It's so exciting. How can I wait until February?

Oh yes! Got my tix, got the hotel...We will be making the drive from PHX. So where is the pre-show meet up?

For those that have not seen the virtual tour of the theatre, not a bad seat in the house!

My, what a beautiful hall. The acoustics should be top notch.

Just think of the lucky people who got front row seats, they'll have Russell looking right at them all night, maybe he'll even reach out and shake some of their hands at the end of the show, sigh. I sooooooo wish I could go .

Oh well, as long as they come to Glasgow next year, I'll be happy.

I have booked my plane flight, bought my concert ticket and I am searching couchsurfing for a place to stay.
I wanted to let everyone know I have a spare ticket for sale at cost, row 23 seat 12. Let me know if you need a ticket.
