Great news. BBC 6Music to broadcast Sparks' radio musical 'The Seduction Of Ingmar Bergman' on November 8th 2009 on Stuart Maconie's Freakzone show (17:30 -20:00)
Fine news!

Hope this broadcast is a general repitition for the 'real' performance of the musical :-)

Hope not to miss this as my flight back from Mexico arrives late that afternoon.

The track running order for this Sunday's Freakzone:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00ntjr3

A bit of a Swedish theme going on there, including Mike Oldfield's cover of ABBA's Arrival.

Not just a bit of a theme, the beeb has succeded with including some of our very best musicians in this track list.
Just listen to Bosse Hansson's classic masterstrokes on Lord of the rings (1970) and the late Lars Hollmer's prog extravaganza on Knossa knapitatet (1974) to name but a few. A great show awaits us all!

Listening to it right now on 6Music. 'Why Do You Take That Tone With Me' was cut for the news update!

a thread is started at

would be good to make that busy so that BBC know there are listeners...

Sounded great through some Logitech Speakers and a DAB Radio... The English version comes into its own specially on the 2nd Half of the Album... Everything makes more sense... Sort of Album suited to a 5.1 Mix version in places.. Not that im set up for that but it would work well on Escape Sequence..

Couldn't agree more.

And now they've interrupted Ron for the 6.30 news!

You mean 7.30pm, but very annoying in both instances!

I suppose that as TSoIB is a little over one hour, 6Music was never going to be able fit it inbetween two news bulletins unless they could be flexible with the time of the news; Radio 1 news bulletins on the half hour are frequently 2 or 3 minutes late on the Chris Moyles and Scott Mills shows!

I've never downloaded a BBC podcast, but does anyone know whether a show's podcast is the whole show without the news bulletins?

The 6music site says the podcast is a 19 minute weekly roundup so no joy there, but you can download the interview (45 minutes), so assume it's uninterrupted, have downloaded it but not had a chance to listen yet.

That really cheesed me off.

But, hearing it all in English was utterly wonderful, it was great to fill in the bits of the plot I didn't understand. As others have said this really worked wonders in the second half of the album. Garbo Sings was utterly wonderful, it was a favourite of mine from the beginning, but I love it even more now that I can understand the lyrics. "He's Home" is of course a fitting closure. A truly phenomenal piece of work!

I loved the Q&A too, Ron and Russell always make me laugh. It was really great to hear them speak about the writing and recording process of the album and so forth.

It was as brilliant as I had hoped.

Now I'm praying for a CD release very soon!
