Last nights concert was being recorded by Edgar Wright - not sure if it's for a live DVD or part of his documentary.

Still recovering from the brilliant Sparks gig at Kentish Town London. I manage to get down near the front and enjoyed every second of the show. Russell looked so happy while performing and i laughed after Ron dance when he wiped his brow. Two people in the crowd got Sparks souvenirs when Russell throw castanets into the crowd and Ron his tie. I notice camera's at the gig, could be the reason the gig lasted longer than normal. I wonder if there will be a Hippopotamus Live DVD in the future.

didn't throw his castanets into the crowd in Leeds! :(

Understandable- these were the real thing he was using in Leeds and they could have knocked someone out if they didn't catch them in time!

Reminds me of Marc Bolan's little plastic tambourines- designed not to hurt but inevitably got ripped apart by girls wanting a piece of their idol.

So here I am in Sunny Bournemouth ready for tomorrow's gig. Sparks on stage time 7.50pm according to the venue, 45 minute set. I am here as I was unable to attend the UK dates due to holiday. I am going to Cologne and Utrecht to rectify that. Also hoping to get to Copenhagen. Could someone please pm me the set lists from last week, not post them, so it doesn't spoil it for anyone going in Europe. Thanks in advance.
Billy

Leeds and London trumped Glasgow. On this forum, I'd always said Glasgow crowds were the best too. Standing ovations both nights spread like wildfire over both balconies, filled to the gunnels. Actually, in Glasgow, when we rose to our feet, the ushers waved us back down with a no-nonsence insistence. In London, the brilliant performance of one awesome song even sparked an ovation on its own.

The band seemed to perform with more passion every night too.

Setlists highlighted Sparks's diversity, contemporary success, past achievements, pioneering spirit MiniPop and influence. They also reflected fans' favourites, though that could never be exhaustive. Indeed, there's never scope in the space of one evening to cover everything Sparks have done that is brilliant. And that becomes more impossible year on year. Sparks just get better and better.

Overheard one cockney accent at the end declaring, "This is seriously the best thing I've ever seen on stage".

I think I know what song you're referring to. Prior to these gigs I would have NEVER envisioned it being done, but it makes a helluva lot of sense in context.

43 years after first seeing Sparks live, I’ve decided to do something I’ve pondered on for far too long and go and see them play on their own turf. LA here I come !
