Is the single getting any airtime, I listen to Radio 2 on a regular basis but have only heard it once on Jeremy Vine and once on Alan Carr shows.

Surely a song as good as this is not going to disappear into oblivion when there is so much dross getting regular airtime!

I know, someone's not very happy about it could be not wanting to outstay their welcome on the radio so to speak.

Wish I had your confidence, that didn't happen with any of the FFS releases.

What do they have to do to get the recognition they truly deserve??

I agree about TOTP though, the first appearance of This Town had me hooked and 40 odd years on that has not changed, perhaps I am one of the lucky ones!

bless them they are doing a lot of promo for this release but I doubt they'll get much radio support they never do cant see why that would change now.
Im just hoping the album does well, it would be great if they could return to the top 20 again on their own.

I blame today's society's Darwinian tendencies, Kill the old so the young prosper. I could be wrong but you'll never know...

Seems the TOTP performance hung everything in the balance.

Does some of the blame not lie with the record company promotion department?

There are plenty of well known radio people who "love" Sparks when it suits but then never play or promote their records on the radio.

It just annoys me that Ron and Russell have once again produced a wonderful product (like FFS) and it goes almost unnoticed among vastly inferior (in my opinion) run of the mill dross.

Are they destined to be remembered only for This Town?

Why, no. Here in America they're known primarily for the play the "Cool Places" video got on MTV back in '83. Sort of like the old saying about prophets being without honor in their home country.

I hear what you say but here in the UK it is only This Town for most people.

Just seen the video for Edith Piaf, excellent and fits the song perfectly but still no airplay, I fear that this one is slipping away and will vanish without trace, such a shame.......

Certainly share your view how the superb animated video suits the song marvellously. Equally desperate I am for it to get deserved media attention. Throughout pop history, fresh songs that were exceptionally strong and conveyed a unique atmosphere hypnotised hoards of people into buying that musical window into another world. Edith Piaf has those qualities. Moreover, it feels time for a such a song to grace the charts.

That video is really great and complements the song perfectly.
Whether it charts or not, they've created a real work of art there, it will live on and still be watched in 100 years.

Super track beautiful video, unfortunately the airwaves are invaded by muzak and have been for some time now.Time to put some Sparks on.A lad of 18 at my football team tried to tell me recently that Bieber was better than Led Zeppelin-think that says it all about brainwashing and embracing mediocrity.I refused to get into deep conversation on the skills of Bonham Plant and Co with him.I told him to go away and do some research and maybe have his ears syringed. Radio is currently broken as long as these Dj's and controllers farm this garbage out of the airwaves-rant over.

Spot on Deano - I reckon someone at the BBC doesn't like SPARKS ! .......Not that I'm prejudiced

I agree, I think that those of us around in 1974 lived through the best times for music, Bowie, T Rex, Slade, Wizzard, Cockney Rebel and Roxy Music to name but a few.

The late 70's and early 80's gave us The Smiths, Buzzcocks, The Sex Pistols, The Stranglers, The Cure, The Fall and then, nothing really memorable from then on.

To be honest I think that there is no place for good original music in today's world of manufactured one hit wonders and boy/girl "bands."

Perhaps that is why Sparks music goes unnoticed, maybe we should be glad that we are privileged to actually get it and forget about everyone else and their narrow minded opinions.

I still think Edith Piaf is a fantastic song and hope that it will break through somehow for the sake of good music.

Don't leave out the 90's and early 2000's as well; My Bloody Valentine, Boards of Canada, Nirvana, Radiohead, Blur, U2, Aphex Twin, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Arcade Fire, Queens of the Stone Age...

The surface may be s*** but if you dig deeper gold can be found

Well done Steve, always ahead of the rest!!

Why on earth would it be on the C list this is a wonderful song light years ahead of everything else around just now.

More promotion needed from the record company!!!

Careless Man I agree with your sentiment about the C list-yes its a great song and we would all like the A list. The bit about the record company is maybe a little harsh-no bad feelings meant.

I think BMG should be praised and not criticised. They have helped get Sparks there 3rd top 10 album, they have done a remarkable job plus Its ultimately down to the radio station what they choose to play. Only so much that can be done!
