But you won't find any mention of the word "subterfusion" in, for example, Merriam Webster or the Oxford English dictionary. Maybe Ron coined the word. |

Other than The Toughest Girl In Town and Madonna, Interior Design is a an album best expunged from memory. No charm, no twists - a record that seems to have no relevance either for artist or audience.. _________________ 'I don't think, therefore I ain't' |

I love the 'extremely important remix' of 'So Important'. The album gets my vote. |

I actually just received "Interior Design" in the post the other day. :)
My complaints are minimal (there is a serious lack of two gorgeous Maels on the cover!) and I must say, the music is a little too ... suburban, if you will. It just sounds too "normal". Perhaps that's the point of the record?
A thought came to me as I was tossing around the music, trying to figure out what I liked about it, and it occurred to me: the photography and cover have NOTHING to do with the album's name itself.
I suggest that "Interior Design" refers to your emotional design. ;D Hence the cheesy lyrics and the overall "love song album" quality of the record.
Nonetheless I really loved it, despite the fact that it was like INXS meets Carpenters under close watch of Todd Rundgren.
It just wasn't like Sparks.
... oh, who am I kidding .. I don't care what Russell is singing about, just as long as he's singing ... :) _________________ Last.fm.

It is not a bad album - but its no good one neither.
The only track i really can listen to from it is So Important(i love the piano line).. the rest is imho just average pop music that has been made and heard a million times before. it lacks sparks' uniqueness but again, that doesnt make it a bad album..but a not-so-good album. _________________ |

It's a great album. I thought so the first time I heard it. Not a single bad track, no half-good ones either. Every single song is amazing.
And seeing it perfomed live last year is still one of the greatest concert experiences I've had. (Not just because they ended up playing both me and my friend's dream encores.)
So YES, I like Interior Design. _________________ Not so suave.

I liked the album too when I first listened to it. Somehow in the same kind of way as In Outer Space and Pulling Rabbits - kind of mood-lifting and still with some unexpectedly "so important" moments that everytime manage to win me over. A Walk Down Memory Lane, Madonna (the English version) and The Toughest Girl In Town are among my all-time Sparks favorites. _________________ Entertainment or art - one should know from the start |

Each to their own, and I can appreciate how it appeals to others but I just can't listen to it. It just seems to lack the character and originality that R&R have spoilt us with over the past 35 years. |
