kimono my house HAS to be the best ....you have to think of what was around at the time it was released back in 1974 to really appreciate how innovitive it was , and it still stands up now.....hence the RFH concert .......I hope they film it !

For me, it was a tough decision between Li'l Beethoven and Indiscreet, although Li'l Beethoven just has the edge, if only because of 'My Baby's Taking Me Home'. Any chance of Indiscreet being performed in its entirety, R&R???!!!

P.S. Call me sad or mad, but I keep thinking of Indiscreet as 'In De Street' after some joker suggested that the title refers to the cover showing a crashed plane 'in de street'. Aaagh!

Referring to "APOLLO74" remark about Kimono. True it made a big impact at the time. imo that's not the point. Listen to the whole sequence of the first 5 albums (6 if you count teh demos album) and I don't think Kimono is especially stand-out in that context. The vote for Propaganda was mine - not just 2 standout tracks "Something for the Girl" and "Mother Earth", but a superbly crafted *album* in a way that Kimono isn't.

Whomp is an album I never thought much of, listened to again quite recently for the first time in years. there's much more going on there than I previously noticed. It's still (imo) not a great album, but it's a *much* more interesting one than I used to think.

When I was first getting into Sparks, I bought a tape called 'The Best of Sparks' with loads of tracks I hadn't heard of, and none of their more well known stuff. Then I found out that this was a dodgy reissue of 'Music That You Can Dance To', presumably retitled 'The Best of..' so more people will buy it. Sorry, R&R, but that tape could be done under the trades descriptions act! (although I do like 'Change' and 'Let's Get Funky')

angst in my pants.. sparks rock .. the best combo of real band, 80's new wave pop vibe... and very california. might not appeal to the euro fans.. but this was pure teen california fun at the time.. and great witty writing to boot.

Refering back to Steveboyces reasons for voting for "Propaganda"...I seem to remember it was released very soon after " Kimono my house ", and I don't think any two Sparks albums sound as alike as those two albums do , in fact , I feel you could swap any of the tracks from one album to the other and barely notice the difference !

Like poor old Norway in the Eurovision song contest, Interior Design currently has "nil points". Isn't anyone prepared to put their neck on the line (or their goolies on the chopping block) and admit that Interior Design is their all-time favourite Sparks album?

Then again, perhaps not.
